My foolish flesh is failing, Lord
My careless heart resides
Amongst the lowest of sordid beasts
And many more besides
Raise up your hand, my God
The one that wove my being
Open your mouth, my Lord
Speak the truth I’m not seeing
Show me the steps that Jacob saw
Light fires to show my ways
For in You I trust, my bones are dust
My limp heart disobeys
I’m worthy not, oh Lord of hosts
Of mercy you impart
Your stars that decorate the sky
Cleanse my wretched heart
